December 2019 Update from the Mustang Rescue!

The festivities are all go at the Wild Horse Mustang Rescue Project!

The Mustang Rescue is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the welfare, rescue, and preservation of America’s wild horses – the mustang. The centre receives mustangs who have been taken from the wild and have ended up in neglectful or abusive situations.

It’s been a busy year for the Mustang Rescue, check out all the changes & exciting things the volunteers have been up to!

New Location

Our mustangs are much happier in their new home as they roam freely on our larger pastures and rest comfortably under our wonderful shade trees.  The volunteers love the new property too!

We celebrated our American Thanksgiving Day holiday with our volunteers on Thursday, November 28th.  They were cooked a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, which included turkey, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, pumpkin pie, etc..  They then took part in Native American cultural activities outdoors in the afternoon.

Volunteers have attended several off-site fall events, including a Native American Festival, which was an experience that our volunteers enjoyed very much.

The day after Thanksgiving, volunteers went on a special outing to visit a rescued dolphin with a prosthetic tail named Winter at Clearwater Marine Aquarium.  Our volunteers enjoyed meeting Winter and the other dolphins at the aquarium very much.  The Dolphin Tale movies were made about her story.  Please see the attached picture of Winter and check out the link below to learn more about her.

Christmas Festivities

Our December volunteers will have the opportunity to experience yoga with horses, an old time holiday trail ride, and our annual holiday open house.

We also took our volunteers to a very special Christmas tree lighting ceremony last weekend in Brownwood Village, which is the location of the Brownwood Airport Shuttle Depot.

Camp has a special way of getting you out of your comfort zone

I chose Camp America over other organisations because the resources were so easy to navigate. Once the application process began, again this was completely off a whim from a Facebook advertisement, the ball just kept rolling – and fast! I was hired only weeks later at the Camp America director’s fair by Camp Modin.
